RelFinder

RelFinder (Relation Finder) is one of the DBpedia applications that extracts a graph using the relationships between objects in any dataset. It also provides a powerful visualisation tool to show this graph by highlighting and filtering features. RelFinder is capable of working on any RDF dataset which provides a SPARQL endpoint. The current version collects information from some popular semantic datasets including DBpedia, DBTune and Linked Movie Database.

The user interface is very easy-to-use. First, enter at least two objects from the supported datasets into to the text boxes with auto-completion feature and just click "Find Relations" button. Then, RelFinder starts constructing the RDF graph which may grow for a while by newly by immediately discovered links. You can also try prepared examples to find out that both Einstein and Gödel studied in The Institute for Advanced Study located in Princeton, NJ or to reveal that the common ground of Ferrari, Fiat and Masserati is Italy.

Açılmadan kapanan Apple Store uygulamaları

iPhone'unuza indirdiğiniz bir Apple Store uygulaması bir süre sonra açmaya çalıştığınızda açılmadan hemen kapanabilir. Yani uygulama simgesine tıkladığınızda uygulama, açılır gibi yapıp ardından hemen kapanabilir. Sebep, senkronizasyon sırasında uygulama iTunes kütüphanesinde bulunmuyorsa iTunes'un uygulamayı cihazdan silmesi olabilir. Bu nedenle uygulamaları cihaza indirmek yerine iTunes Store'dan indirip cihazla senkron etmek sorunu çözecektir.

Social Bookmarking with Faviki

After my Social Semantic Web class last week, I have done a brief research about semantic tagging immediately and I have met Faviki which is a social bookmarking tool providing semantic tagging. This means that the tags offered by Faviki are not only keywords, but instead they refer to structured concepts from the semantic version of Wikipedia database (DBpedia).

It is easy to use Faviki by installing a browser bookmarklet from here (user registration required). Thanks to this bookmarklet you can tag a page that you have just visited and save this tagging. Faviki suggests tags from among the DBpedia concepts while you are typing. It also supports the tags found by Zemanta which analyze the page content and suggests some words for tagging (for detail about see my previous post). Moreover, you can tag in different languages like English, German or French but not Turkish unfortunately.

I tagged one of my elele blog posts which is about TrueKnowledge and I strongly advice to use Faviki to give some meaning to the Web.

iPhone 3GS cihazı 3.1.2'de kalarak restore etmek.

iPhone işletim sisteminin şuanki güncel sürümü 3.1.3 olduğu için iTunes 3.1.2'ye geri yükleme (restore) yapmaya izin vermiyor. Ancak windows altındaki "hosts" (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) dosyanıza "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" satırını ekleyip restore işlemini tekrar denerseniz çalışıyor.

TrueKnowledge

TrueKnowledge is a semantic search engine combining natural language processing, internal knowledge base and external databases for generating answers to the users’ questions. It stores the knowledge in a form that computers can understand. It can answer the questions in natural language (English). TrueKnowledge does not only offers some web pages where you can find the answer, but it also provides exact answers to your questions. For example, I tried the following questions and I received clear answers amazingly.

* What is the Semantic Web? TrueKnowledge: the Semantic Web, an extension of the World Wide Web in which facts can be tagged within documents to allow machines (as well as humans) to extract information from them.
* What is the time in Istanbul now? TrueKnowledge: March 13th 2010, 16:24:06 EET
* How long is the flight time from Istanbul to San Francisco? TrueKnowledge: 14 Hours
* Is Jennifer Lopez single? TrueKnowledge: No (It is just an example. I don’t care about the answer =)) )

For some questions TrueKnowledge exposes how it finds the answer by listing the facts that the engine used for providing the answer. You can see them by clicking “How do we know this?” link at the bottom of the answer frame. Also, there is a real-time counter on the web page of TrueKnowledge which indicates the number of facts and things that the answers are based on.
TrueKnowledge allows the users to contribute the knowledge by rating and editing the answers. Furthermore, you can add your own answer to a certain question.

Zemanta

Zemanta is a semantic content suggestion system designed and used for enriching user-created web content such as blog posts and emails. It combines natural language processing and semantic search while analyzing the user-generated content. As the result of a successful analyze Zemanta suggests pictures, tags, links to some related articles and in-text links. Zemanta benefits from the contents of popular social sites such as Wikipedia, Youtube, IMDB, Amazon.com, Flickr, Myspace, Twitter, Facebook and Google Maps to produce suggestions. For example, you can add images into your post from Flickr, can give Google Map links for place names by single clicks. It is very interesting and entertaining tool i think. You can try it from here.
